I can't believe that its been a year since the 50th Tom Quilty Gold Cup endurance ridewas held at Wisemans Ferry NSW. I've been following the Tom Quilty Endurance Ride story since I was a young girl, with the achievement of successful completion Gold Buckle high on my Bucket List (still!). And now the 2016 Tom Quilty is about to begin.
Being held this year in the heart of the Victorian goldfields region, just 40klm north of Ballarat at Granite Hill Lexton, the cream of Australias endurance riding combinations (horse and riders) will nervously circle the starting area just before midnight tomorrow night waiting for the starters call.
And I can tell you, the atmosphere at the start is electric. With the lights and shadows thrown from riders headlamps and strappers torches creating an eerie mosaic, its an unforgettable experience to watch (and dream about riding in one day!).
Muddy Creek Rain Gear was proud to be a sponsor of last years ride - brightly outfitting the Ride Base Organiser Charlie Gucci in a Serious Rain Gear hi viz long rain coat. He was a man who couldn't be missed!
For everyone who has spent the hours in the saddle and out on track training and preparing and has reached the achievement of being eligible for riding the great Tom Quilty endurance ride - Congratulations. That is in itself a huge achievement.
So ride safe, enjoy your horse and the track and may luck be with you, for there is always a little bit of lady luck that is needed to be on your side.
Enjoy your ride
